Snowflakes, Butterfly, Christmas tree, Doilies, Edging, Motifs, Necklaces, Bracelet, Zipper Pull, Earrings, Airplanes and Ornaments

Sarah has decided to join the challenge and begins with this motif that is part of Elgiva heart from Martha Ess' book Playing with Picots.

Batty Tatter made this butterfly without the pearls from Shabby Chick Tatting by Rozella F. Linden and didn't realize until she saw it in daylight that she'd used two different shades of white.

Julie used Lizbeth 20 White with Miyuki 6 mm bugles and 8/0 seed beads to tat Ice Queen by Joƫlle Paulson. She's made the Heavenly Snowflake by Joelle before in a variegated thread, but did it again, this time in white with beads.

Sue tatted another pair of tiny snowflake earrings using Jane Eborall's pattern.

Nancy shares her tatted Christmas tree along with wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Fox has a handle on the ins and outs, ups and downs of this Land of Laces piece which she's working in Lea's #50 thread. She's down to the cross your fingers and hope there's enough thread on the bobbin working on this edging. (Been there, done that, scrounged through the scrap bin for enough to splice in and finish!) TA DA! There was enough, and now another lovely hanky is done.

Jenn shares a collage of tatted snowflakes and motifs with wishes for a Merry Christmas. She recently purchased some beading needles that allowed her to finally attempt Corina Meyfeldt's Snowflake. Now she's thinking of buying more bugle beads so she can tat more. This cute flower motif by Jennifer Williams let her finish her personal challenge of 15 in 2015.

Lilas is thinking her To Do list has become unmanageable, but she did get this white lace and pearl necklace done.

Marie made this bracelet by C-M Handmade and had enough thread left over to make a bookmark. Then a little left over thread made a zipper pull. The last bracelet was given to her sister, so she had to make one for herself. Of course what is a bracelet without earrings?

HisKid just had to get some tatting in and chose to test tat one of Elaine P. Gan's bracelets in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT, although she may use it as a bookmark instead.

Wanda's Christmas wishes are shared with a tatted snowflake and button ornament. Wanda tatted the plane on the right a few years ago and the friend she gave it to had it hanging on the wall looking a bit droopy. This year she tatted the one on the left and mounted both of them so that they can hang proudly on the wall. She had requests for the button ornament patterns and she has posted a few of them on her patterns page.

SPECIAL - Christmas trees covered in tatting

Did you create a lot of tatting to fill your Christmas tree? Do you have pictures you'd like to share? How many of you would like to see a blog full of pictures of trees covered in tatting? How many of you like to drool over trees covered in a froth of lace? How about something similar to the 25 Motif Challenge blog, but a seasonal one just for Christmas?

Are you interested in sharing your tatted tree? Do you want to see a lot of trees covered in tatting? If so,
email me at sharon at rsbriggs dot com or post a comment here with your contact information.

This is my tree with the angel on the top which is my own design from a few years ago. The Christmas balls covered in tatting are designs from my newsletter as are the 3D snowflakes and flat angels. Miscellaneous snowflakes have been added year by year.

If there is a lot of interest, I'll set up a blog and request pictures from people to show on it. If there isn't any interest, it won't go any further.

CHRISTMAS TREES

While there has been some interest, the suggestion hasn't been met with overwhelming enthusiasm. Consequently there won't be a separate blog for it. Instead I will make one posting on the challenge blog with all of the submissions. To have your tree included I need the following.
1 - Your Name: Real or avatar name.
2 - Your blog or web site with more pictures can be seen and details learned.
3 - Your picture or pictures: Send them to sharon at rsbriggs dot com (change the  at to @ and the  dot to .)
4 - Your comments about your tree: Whatever you want included, like the type of thread, patterns, what you did with the tree or whatever other information you want included. You don't have to be part of the 25 Motif Challenge or have your own blog, you just need to send me your pictures and info.

I don't have the time to hunt and peck through web pages, so either email the pictures to me with your description or if it's all on a single page on your blog send me the link the that one page. When I have the information I will make a one time posting with all your lovely trees.

Snowman, Angels, Bell, Ornaments, Snowflakes, Wheel Barrow, Edging, Teapot, Doilies, Earrings, Motifs and Bracelet

Batty Tatter made the snowman and angel as gifts for friends the snowman's hat is one of Jane Eborall's patterns. She saw the bow and bells online and couldn't wait to give them to a friend.

Melanie realized that she has too few ornaments and she's been working her way through the patterns in Nadine Nunelly's book. She's been enjoying seeing how the lace behaves as she attaches it to the ball and knows that the people she gifts them to will enjoy them for years to come.

Julie tatted Eclipse snowflake from Robin Perfetti is size 30 HDT from Yarnplayer.

Linda used a tatted wheelbarrow filled with silk ribbon flowers and an embroidered butterfly in a mixed techniques block.

Grace used Rainbow Taffy Lizbeth thread size 40 Rainbow Taffy to tat this Kersti Anear pattern. She found this collar the Museum of the Confederacy, a sample of the lace women smuggled North to sell because there was no money in the South. This is a tea towel with a cross stitch band where she sewed on a teapot from Pam Palmer's book Tatting Treats 3 and Anne Bruvold's Square Star using size 12 Sulky Blendables. This lovely vintage star doily pattern is from a 50's Workbasket which she tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Rainbow Taffy with coordinating green thread. Another Square Star earring set she made this summer also in Sulky Blendables size 12. She found this amazing blended thread, cotton with a metallic twist, size 10 Garden Metallic by Nazli Gelin, which she used to tat the left snowflake from Lene Bjorn's book 24 Snowflakes and the star on the right is from Monica Hahn's book. Due to a repetitive motion injury she won't be tatting anymore of Lene's snowflake for a while, so she's keeping this one which is hard to photograph to show the sparkle. Both  of these next snowflakes are from Jennifer Williams' snowflake book with the yellow/gold snowflake done in Aunt Lydia's size 10 gold with a metallic twist in it, and the blue one is the Garden Metallic with a silver twist. The following pattern is from Lene Bjorn's snowflake book and the thread is size 60 Sunlight Oro from Edda Guastalla's shop in Italy

Diane finished the third section of the last round of my Jan Stawasz Masterpiece which means only seven more to go. She's very happy that she has managed to tat around four of the ten motifs. She's now half way around and it looks like it won't be finished by Christmas, but soon.

Fox has completed about half the border for the hankie, in just a few days, as opposed to the months that the hedgehog was taking to tat. She contacted Lea to buy 2 more skeins, both in #50, which she used for the previous hankie. She downloaded a pattern from a Russian site which looks suspiciously like a Jan Stawasz design with fuzzy numbers, but she has filled in the numbers according to her understanding and hopes that she has enough thread to work it. Here's the design tatted with Karey's #40 HDT and DMC #60.

Jenn tatted this ornament pattern called Tree Decoration by Jennifer Williams in Lizbeth #20 white thread and with 1 cm long silver beads, omitting the outer beads. This pattern is called Ring of Heart Pendant and is available for free at Elaine P Gan's store. Test tatting snowflakes again for Elaine P Gan and these two snowflakes are called First Snowflake and Floral Snowflake. Starry Snowflake by Elaine P Gan was tatted in Lizbeth #20 white thread.

Lilas created a classic bracelet pattern which is simple, classic and elegant.

Margaret went for angels for her December challenge and tatted Sharren's Angel from Tatting with Sharren blogspot. Next she used two angels off a pattern sheet that was posted on pinterest on a page that has the name Patrieia Pirocca 14.4.24 on the page, but only one of them worked out nicely.

Marie added some tatting to the zipper pull on a bag she got at the craft show. She named these earrings Arctic for their icy colouring. She did an exchange with Hudy, from the Needle Tatting Forum and shows the goodies she received. These Mossy earrings were tatted around old clip earrings. An old single clip earring was tatted around to make a Rosey pendant.

Muskaan has created her Sparkle snowflake and uploaded the pattern for others to try. She has posted step by step instructions for how she tatted Eleonore Endrucks Li’l Angel with a variation for a 3D halo.
Sometimes variations of existing patterns just seem to pop out while you're working on them.

Stephanie has been tatting but not taking pictures. She did get pictures of these 15 pairs of BEANILE Lace earrings which are intended as Christmas gifts.

Sue did quick test tat, again for Elaine P. Gan. Another Elaine P. Gan design is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk. with silver beads. Another Elaine P. Gan design done in size 40 Lizbeth Blue Ice with little clear beads. The navy and white doily she was working on is done and ready for blocking.
