Motifs, Lady, Dragon, Doilies, Leaf, Earrings, Bookmarks, Snowflakes and Skunk

Margaret modified a snowflake pattern from an Anna pattern to fit on a finding that Diane sent her using Lizbeth size 20 Scottish Thistle. The second is Fox's pattern Athalia, for which she used Lizbeth thread no 20 Summer Fun and gold seed beads to match the gold finding.

Marie has been busy tatting things to go on some shirts she bought last fall. Sunbonnet Sue Motif from The Big Book Of Tatting by Darlene Polachic was done in pearl cotton size 8. Anne Bruvold's famous dragon is in Lizbeth size 20 Fruit Frizz. This part of a motif for a trolly mat done in Lizbeth size 80, Wildflower Garden didn't quite work and she used fabric paint to finish it off.

Lelia is continuing to tat Motifs from Patti Duff's Mini Tats for her challenge. This green one is in Lizbeth size 20 colour 83. The next pair are tatted in Lizbeth size 20, colour 621 but she added an extra ring and chain on the second one. The last motif is done in LizBeth size 20 colour 646.

Garyo tatted this motif from the new book Tatting Lace: Accessories and Small Stuffs using Lizbeth size 40, colour 154, Wildflower

Jessica couldn't resist joining in the Tat Along to make the Norma Benporath's Lace Mat design in her older daughter's favourite colours, as a gift. To keep it a secret she's also tatting Jon's Merriment Doily in size 20. She has the first and second row of the Norma Benporath mat done. She also managed to finish up Tammy Rodgers' Maple Leaf pattern tatted in size 20 LizBeth in Falling Leaves. This is the third row of the mat in progress. The tatted edging on this embroidered scarf is more of her Grandmother's work. She has used a finding and Lizbeth Antique Violet Med. colour 640 with silver 11/0 beads and a loosely based variation of the arm of the Maria bookmark from Lene Bjorn's Tatted Bookmarks - cross-shaped to make this earring. The vintage size 30 Clarks thread she used for the first draft was too mushy to do the design justice.

Kristen found some tatting in Faith Bradford's Doll House at the National Museum of American History; a tiny doily and some edging on a towel. Her motif #8 is the small motif that starts a large doily, but this time she is working in size 7 needle and size 30 thread. As she adds rows instead of lying flat it's ruffling.

Jessica likes the stained glass effect the was achieved by using the variegated thread with black on Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat.

Nancy also wanted to try out Jon's modern version of Norma Benporath's design and she began with a test piece using the thread she already had wound on her shuttle. She started Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat thinking she'd do it a little smaller, but after a while she seemed to have too many rings, a product of the fan blowing the pages in her book. Now she has to just keep tatting until it's big enough to fit around one of the large pots of flowers she'll soon be bringing indoors. The Tat Along lace mat will have 2 more rounds plus an outer edge and she is thinking about adding solid colors on the next round.

Bree finds that her "go to" pattern when she has no specific tatting in mind is Jon's Fold-over Bookmark and she's working on one now in Lizbeth size 80 Cotton Candy. Although she has done it in many colours and many ways, she usually omits the fold over bit.

Cindy is also working on Jon's Tat Along of the Norma Benporath design, but she didn't make the first picot large enough so the centre is kind of squished.

Diane tatted a variation of Maria from Tatted Bookmarks - cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn in size 20 Lizbeth #173, Purple Marble. She loves Frivole's Square Elegance which she did in a lovely shade of blue.

Fox continues to work on her Duchess pattern, seen here in size 40 Lizbeth with Catherine wheel joins at top and sides. Lizbeth #40, which is tatting up very nicely in this motif which is the beginning of Linda Davies's small Coronet Doily.

Frances has added two of Tina Frauberger's snowflakes to her collection, with her own variations added.

Frivole has decided this is the snowflake she will be sending out to family and friends in their Christmas cards this year. She has put her Square Elegance motif in her Etsy shop and row by row pictures of it on her blog. This also marks her second round of the 25 Motif Challenge and she has decided that she doesn't need the incentive to keep on tatting so she's ending her challenge with this.

Jess has joined Jon's Tat Along using her size 60 Young Hearts HDT. Her tatting this week includes her Starflower design and Frivole's little butterfly, Papillon both tatted in Karey Solomon's Unicorn HDT. From Tat Days she has Jane Eborall's Stinky the Skunk in Tat-ilicious Fireflies and Pastel Rainbow size 40. An idea for cut out pendants and Jane Eborall's Diamond Motif are jelling together but she's wondering about her options and looking for input.

Sue tatted these snowflakes in Lizbeth Blue Ice size 20 and she thinks she finally has it the way she wants it with the last little flake just emptying the shuttle. Her's the whole collection.
