Butterflies, Bookmarks, ATCs and Snowflakes

The Guidelines
1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing us to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. There is no need to advise the Challenge Team to let let us know when you've added things to your blog. We check all of the blogs when we do an update.
3. We can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. We don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell us when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. We know from past experience that the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let us know so that we continue to check your blog on a regular basis.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
---------------
Mica likes bugs especially these dragonflies from DS9 designs. The snowflake in black metallic (Kreinik braid no. 4) is Ruffled-Star Snowflake from Tatted Snowflakes by Vida Sunderman. The collection of motifs from Minitats by Patti Duff are all done in size 80 ecru.
Shirl tatted this butterfly from “Tatting Patterns” by Lyn Morton in DMC 12 Perel cotton 310. The edging is made with DMC 80 in white from “Tatting Patterns” by Julia E. Sanders. The doily for Charmie was an interesting challenge as Shirl made a mistake and then had to wing it to finish the doily. Tatted in DMC 12 in Ecru 712 it is 9 inch diameter. It looks good to me. The bookmark is made with HH Lizbeth Thread size 20 color 691. Sunday Postcard Art’s theme is Black of White and Shirl combined it with her tatting. The white thread is HH Lizbeth size 20, color 601 and the black thread is DMC Cotton Perle Size 12 color 310.
Chiara tatted a block tatted rabbit by Martha Ess in white DMC 20 and added little chicken buttons a swarovski pearl, a little bell and a MoP flower button to embellish a card. A 3D bell by Jane Eborall is made with DMC Perle cotton 8 in blue and light blue. The rabbit face is a true bell so this is a tatted bell that really rings.
LauraRose has been working on lace letters and working slowly but steadily on her projects including the Lisbeth doily which is progressing slowly.
Linda's butterfly has found a home with her Brazilian embroidery. The tatting tatted crosses. The first three are from a pattern by Eliz Davis in size 10 for the white and DMC 8 for the pink. The second picture of crosses are from Gina Butler and tatted in size 10, 40 and 80 threads.
Krystle's grandfather sent her a surprise tatting package with a German Aero shuttle and some copies of pages from an older needlework book. Her great grandmother tatted this beautiful hanky bonnet for the baby on the way. This doily is Iris Neibach's Nora done in Oren Bayan. The collage of tatted bits are Krystle's samples for the Tat program. Krystle is tatting a lot of earrings and pendants and thinking about opening an Etsy shop.
Christine tatted Jon’s Heart Snowflake with a plastic ring in the center with Lizbeth size 20 thread in Cotton Candy colour. Then she did Marliee’s Quardille earring pattern using Sherry’s Easter Egg size 20 thread.

Patricia has tatted several pieces #16 is a variation of ”Curved Edging” by Sandra Scales in Needle Tatting With Style Book 1. One more repeat would have made a motif. #17 is “Edging #2” from Elegant Tatting by Janet Carroll and #18 is "Edging 3006" from Tatting Doilies and Edgings edited by Rita Weiss and is also found in The Tatter’s Treasure Chest Edited by Mary Caroline Waldrep as “Empress”. All are done in her Hand Dyed Thread. #19 is the ‘Christmas Ball Cover” by Sandra Scales from Needle Tatting With Style Book 1.
Angie finished these two bookmarks from Jane Eborall's friend Jane, which are very easy and quick.
Wanda is testing out bookmark patterns for an exchange.
Heather designed this necklace for a friend, but her daughter may get it.
Kathy shares a Victorian Handkerchief Doll, Hat and 3-D Parasol made with Edging # 8834 from the Tatters Treasure Chest – Dover Publications. It looks like an easy enough thing to duplicate and I may have to make one of my own.
Jeanne is making lots of Jon's tiny hearts and flowers for her daughter's wedding.
TattingChic has finished the heart and sent it on to Laura.
Ellen's paperclip of the month is a sweet and delicate butterfly shared with the online class. She is enjoying creating some ATC's embellishes with tatted dragon flies on dragonfly fabric, roses on rose fabric and some novel flip up jackpot with 2 old Singapore stamps and a tatted flower. Very creative!
Carol tatted this cat bookmark is from an old Knots Newsletter #50 from 2002. The cat is also in Diana Stevens Animal Bookmarks book. The butterfly is her favorite butterfly to tat. The pattern is by Mary McCarthy and was in the Workbasket Magazine around 1990.
Diane had to empty some shuttles and this motif #10 from Tatting by Myra Piper is the color of the kids favorite yogurt. Another design from Tatting by Myra Piper and Diane is still emptying shuttles of Lizbeth thread (#634 and #682). Myra Piper's, "Pretty Diamond-Shaped Snowflake." tatted in Marilees's "Weathered Stone". "Stumpy Tatted Bookmark" by Kersti Anear tatted in Altin Basak thread (#3002, size 50), and tatted again, this time without the mistake. Another Clover Leaf design is the name Myra Piper gave to motif #18 in her book, Tatting from Woman's World Book of Plain and Fancy Needlework Magazine, 1920. It's tatted in Marilee's Weathered Stone. Anastasia, another bookmark by Kersti Anear tatted in Altin Basak #3002, size 50. The No. 1 Square Motif from The DMC Book of Charted Tatting Designs by Kirstine Nikolajsen & Inge Lise Nikolajsen measures almost 2" in Lizbeth #662 Turquoise Lt., size 20.
Eva received her angel from maria in Portugal. Her angel for Aileen in Singapore is "Dimpled Ring Angel" tatted in Olympus thread.
Joy has been trying to figure out a way to reproduce the classic "Grandmother's Flower Garden" quilt pattern with tatting, and she thinks she's got it. This medallion pattern is from A Tatter's Workbook an with white motifs as the path between different colored flowers made like this one, it should work.
Wally is a fan of Pamela's tatted footwear so she designed a pair of her own. Mark's bunny has been tatted in a darker pink DMC Petra #8. and attached to a baby T-shirt. Jon's August Poppy Flower was tatted with the centre thread Lizbeth and the other is a dark turquoise DMC Cebelia #29. Ellen's butterfly bookmarks are being used for an exchange.
